‘Promoting an understanding of Youth Development and the use of Street Football as a tool’

 

Objectives of the Workshop

o      Promote the idea of development through football

o      Promote the idea of street football as a tool for youth development

Date and venue

This Workshop will take place from the 29th day February to the 2nd March 2008 at Ingwenyama Lodge, White River.

Participants

2 representatives per municipality [1 adult + 1 youth with leadership qualities]

Criteria for selection of participants

  • Participants must commit to further spread the idea of “Development through Football” within their municipalities. Within two weeks after the workshop participants would have to organize a local meeting in their municipality to pass on the ideas from the workshop to at least 10 other officials/youth leaders in the municipality.
  • Female representatives from the municipalities + female youth leaders are most welcome. The workshop should reflect a healthy gender-balance with at least 30% of the participants being female.
  • Preferably participants should be chosen out of the pool of people that participated already in the streetfootball launch during the COSAFA games.
  • Age group of the Youth: 16-17 year olds
  • Ideally, some of the five participants selected by Dr Khumalo for the Kaizer Chiefs Development will take part in the workshop
  • Officials who participated in the launch during the COSAFA games should be informed about the workshop and its purpose

Workshop format

The workshop will be run in a facilitative manner with group interaction and feedback sessions, facilitated by Mr Gert Potgieter and Ms Liana Loubscher from Altus Sport.
